Make Art Happen
As an artist, I am constantly scribbling down the next idea to bring into reality. Our community asks us often, “what are you creating and working towards bringing into the community?” We believe art can be anything we want it to be and our dreams are never too wide. Here are some (and only some) of the makings I am working on.
PROJECT 1:
A Day in the Life of Resilience & Struggle
I will be photographing solo/single parents over 3 nonconsecutive days for 4 hours a day, editing & compiling their stories into a book. This project sheds light on the unspoken resilience & struggles of 10 parents and kiddos that overcome adversities to keep moving forward.
Each story will cost is $1500. The funds need to come for our communities, so not to burden the parent with another cost and to document their lives. These experiences, with consent, are then compiled into a book for the public to engage with and learn from. My goal is to tell 10 parent stories
PROJECT 2:
Writing and illustrating a picture book
I have written two and am working on illustrations. The intention of my books are to educate, liberate, empower while artistically stimulating.
The cost of each book to create, publish & market is projected to be $10,000-$25, 000.
PROJECT 3:
Curating a sensorial art exhibit for all communities
My ideas are storyboarded and ready for action. I will need an accessible public space to design and install this sensory experience, a small community artist membered team with vast skills (i.e. engineering, technology, mechanics) and funds for the exhibit materials.
The cost of this experience is projected to be $10, 000 – $30,000.
PROJECT 4:
Art pop ups around the city, focusing on vulnerable communities (2-3 hours/pop up)
For every individual to create as many pieces as they would like in the time allotted, would range from $200-$400 per pop up, depending on number of artists present and the amount of activities I include. For example, the clay experience costs more in supplies than the drawing experience. I intend to bring 3-5 different mediums each pop up to create a diverse experience.
